Famous Romanian director Andrei Ṣerban, inspired by Bergman's film, stages a production in which he tries to capture the relationship between theatre, film and reality, as well as the mystery of the creation of one of the key works of twentieth century film history. In doing so he leaves intact the subtlety and dramatic force of the story of four women – the dying Agnes, her sisters Karin and Marie and the maid Anna.
