I WILL MAKE A HOLE SO I CAN STICK OUT … I’ll make a hole – so I can stick out of it – I wonder who’s gonna trip over… Original object show. A brief insight into the natural processes, the silent convergence and the germs of conflict in the community of things such as the Watch, the Locomotive, the Pipe, the Whale, the Stand, the Glade, the Nest, the Paws, several kinds of Scoops, the three Antennas, the Prison, Berta, the Swing, the UFO, the Restless Egg, and the Flower-Moon. Where will the Glade go and where will it spread out? How long will it take to fish the Nest out of the dirty puddle? How do you exchange a glance with the Watch who’s lost an eye? The Pipe is singing a lullaby, the Locomotive lives in the Prison, the Whale lays eggs and is a bit angry. Do not disturb the Antennas. Catch the feather, prepare the teapot, and now be careful – you need to delimit the landing area for the Flower-Moon.
Berta Doubková, standing behind a long table in the small stage of the Alfred ve dvoře theatre in Holešovice, brings to life a number of diverse objects, the acts building on each other in a witty, inventive way on the verge of dada…

The production I Will Make a Hole So I Can Stick Out takes the artistic and especially meditative feeling to a higher level, touching on fine arts performances. (…) Berta Doubková takes us to a fragile landscape inhabited with diverse objects more or less relating to the motives of a hole, peeking and sticking out: a funnel, a spherical colander, growing grass… The performer employs these objects to create visual associations, often referring to natural motifs, yet open to various interpretations and awakening the viewers’ imagination. This, however, is sometimes not even necessary – what matters is the creator’s ability to pass her fascination with objects onto the audience. She treats the objects so tenderly, with utmost respect; she does not manipulate them but rather lets them reveal their magic.

TMEL is a theatre company exploring new possibilities of puppet and object theatre. Tmel as an ensemble, group, collective, or whatever holds people together like a sealant (the English word for its name) was created in 2021 during the preparation of the production O as Little Otik, acclaimed at national and international festivals, including the Divadlo International Theatre Festival. New additions to their repertoire include the production Don’t Worry, Mushroom, a fairy tale for the youngest children, and the adventurous puppet show The Den, which takes the audience on a quest through unchartered wilderness. The latter production further develops the theatre’s exploration of the use uncommon materials and telling original stories with no language barriers.
