SERVE AND PROTECT by the Czech-Norwegian ensemble Direct Action Theatre uses riot police uniforms as the main visual and symbolic element. The production uses uniforms in absurd or uncommon situations, thus playfully and surprisingly challenging the status quo of the Police as an institution or authority.

Performers dressed in police uniforms balance on the borderline between art and activism (artivism), drawing the audience into surreal situations where the structures of power are dismantled.

Inspired by their interventions in public space, the production touches on the issues of environmental grief, war, uniformity, and crowd brutality through the art of dance, thus aligning them closer with the true essence of their own moto: To serve and protect people, nature, pleasure, beauty and life as such
