WHAT THE FOLK We live in a time of tension and division. Is there something we all have within us? Something that connects us? Movement. I’m waiting at a bus stop or at the doctor’s, shifting my weight from one foot to the other. A step this way, a step that way – and a rhythm emerges, a dance. Kind of familiar… or familial? Folk?

WHAT THE FOLK – or what is folklore all about? Together with you, we want to explore how dance comes into being. How it emerges as a connection between us. How it grows out of the simplest steps, from the natural need to move. And how it gradually transforms – becoming richer and bolder. What might our folk dance look like today? Should it be traditional, modern, contemporary or simply natural…

Perhaps all these forms have more in common than we think. Join us in this playful exploration.

And you think dance is not easy to understand? Don’t worry! Just open your heart and let the rhythm guide you. The joy of movement and of creating something together can gradually bring us together, shape us and bring us joy.
