Workshop leaders: Daniela von Vorst, Dominika Mithofer and Tomáš Staněk

What does it take to put on a performance? What does a stage manager do, and what exactly is the forestage? And why do actors say “break a leg” to each other?

Together, we will take a peek inside a professional theatre and discover what goes on backstage. We will learn about different theatre professions and try our hand at acting, direction, set design, set construction, costume design and more in the rehearsal room. You will be amazed at how little it takes to create a good bit of “drama” when everyone puts their mind to it – and we will even perform it together!

The aim is to introduce the younger generation to the world of drama and theatre-making. A brief backstage visit will offer a glimpse into the workings of a professional theatre. The workshop also aims to develop participants’ ability to engage with and reflect on dramatic art and the process of creating it.

The workshop activities help develop key communication, social, and problem-solving competences. They also complement the Framework Education Programme areas “Art and Culture” and “People, Personality and the World of Work”.
