Krzysztof Warlikowski

A magnificent production based on the work of Nobel Prize winner J. M. Coetzee, directed by the renowned Polish director Krzysztof Warlikowski. The role of Elizabeth Costello, an acclaimed novelist, is shared by six exceptional actors, allowing the character to be approached from a range of age and gender perspectives. The production follows an ageing heroine who struggles with the world around her while confronting questions of animal rights, environmental protection and her own mortality. Warlikowski’s Elizabeth Costello comes to the Pilsen festival following acclaimed appearances in Avignon, Barcelona and Athens. It is widely regarded as the most significant—and perhaps also the most personal—work this outstanding director has created in recent years.
