Eighteen years after his celebrated production L’Effet de Serge, which was the first introduction of Czech audiences to the work Philippe Quesne, one of contemporary theatre’s greatest visual magicians, the director returns to revisit and expand upon some of its central themes. Serge’s former flat has now become a curious art gallery, and its eccentric inhabitants—artists, curators and visitors alike—explore the nature of contemporary art and its place in the everyday lives of us all. With its spellbinding atmosphere and uniquely wistful yet quietly amused tone, the production draws on texts by the contemporary French poet and novelist Laura Vazquez.
