The Farmer's Woman

The passionate and dynamic story of the unequal love between poor seamstress Eva and the wealthy yet weak-willed Mánek unfolds against a backdrop of false morality and rigid social conventions. Director Zetel has staged the play with an ensemble whose theatre has perhaps the closest connection to the traditions and customs of the Slovácko region. The result is a remarkable production featuring folkloric elements but, above all, a thoroughly contemporary expression of the desire for freedom and the courage to cross established boundaries. Klára Ondůšková, who plays the title role, received the Czech critics’ Talent of the Year award.
