The Vultures

What happens when all life’s certainties suddenly disappear? The most acclaimed Czech theatre director of the present day, Jan Frič, joined forces with dramaturg Marta Ljubková to reimagine Henry Becque’s largely forgotten 1882 drama as an absurd, ironic and decidedly bitter comedy. The production explores the search for new ways of coming to terms with reality, life, relationships and one’s own willingness to compromise after the loss of a family breadwinner. The Vultures was named Production of the Year at the 2025 Czech Theatre Critics’ Awards.
