The time for revolt has come! Acclaimed Polish director Maja Kleczewska stages Nobel Prize laureate and Lower Silesian native Gerhart Hauptmann’s more than 130-year-old social drama as a still highly relevant portrait of the dynamics of collective rebellion against poverty and precarity. Remarkably vibrant and theatrically imaginative, the production draws on a new translation into the Lower Silesian dialect and speaks not only to life in a socially excluded region but also to the working conditions of artistic professions. At the prestigious Divine Comedy Festival in Kraków, the production won three acting awards and, above all, the Grand Prix for the most outstanding achievement of the 2025 edition.
